All is well in the forest and the clans have been living together in peaceful harmony aside from the scattered border scuffles here and there, assorted and random, but all harmless. But of course, every time there is peace, trouble is never far away. Danger lurks as a heartlessly vile tom by the name of Nightmare comes, and in his giant cast shadow lurks his gang, a deadly group of murderers. They attack and leave the Clans devastated, but even through the rough, hard, and impossible times, life goes on. Kits are born, Apprentices become Warriors, and cats die.
