How much do you know...
[/blockquote][/blockquote]In the seventeenth century, Lampton Hill (midlands England) was basically one estate. It belonged to the Duke of Derbyshire. It was his retreat away from his wife, where he went to be with his many assorted lovers. The castle stood on the edge of the land, with acres of forest stretched out before it. Though the Duke lost most of his fortune towards the end of his life, the land stayed in the family until the industrial revolution, when it was bought by a rich business owner who needed a location for his new factory. The town was founded to be a working town that purely relied on the factory to bring in people and money. However, soon the factory was making more money than even planned. Business owners and entrepreneurs wanted in on the money to be made in Lampton Hill, and the town grew into a thriving little community. Today, while the factory is now closed, it is still a delicate mix of the working class and the affluent, and old town turned into a modern, flourishing society.
