Destiny
Thump, thump, thump. Her paws pushed against the ground propelling her forward faster and faster. In her mouth was a mouthwatering piece of prey. The saliva pooled in the beautiful she-cat's mouth. The mocking bird had no chance as Destiny's silent paw steps brought her closer to the bird. The bird twisted it tiny head and flapped, but before it could get farther than a few inches off the ground it was in Destiny's jaws.
The hunt exhilarated Destiny; enhanced every sense. Her golden eyes watched the bird's every movement. Then, at the perfect time, she would leap. Even the most insignificant catch made her feel like... What words could describe how she felt about it? It made her feel like something more.
She slowed as she smelled even more prey. This was an extremely good day for hunting in The Unexplored Lands. Most days you would be lucky to find one piece of prey. She dug a small hole and placed the mocking bird gently down in the hole and brushed the small pile of dirt back over it. No scavenger would get that mocking bird.
She stalked silently forward. Closer, closer, closer. Then, finally, she was within a foot of the large bird. She tensed her quadriceps, ready to spring, but then a wide grin spread across her face. She let out a loud growl and the bird half-flew, half-ran forward. Destiny leaped up and caught the bird in mid air. "Too easy," she purred.
She grasped the bird and trotted to her mocking bird and dug it up. She grabbed both birds and trotted on a little further until she set them down again while she drank from a shallow puddle. She looked into the puddle seeing to liquid gold orbs staring back at her. Her whiskers pricked the water's surface sending small ripples in all directions. She opened her jaws seeing white, shiny teeth. It was a nice day, perhaps she could stay by her puddle.
She rolled the mocking bird closer to her and bit into it. She wasn't extremely hungry, and although she knew she should save it she bit into the bird. Her meal was finished quickly and as she just looked up the plants around her shook. She scented the air. It was definately a cat. She picked up her prey and began to back up, quitly into the reeds.
